We had a warm welcome, and everyone was friendly and helpful. The location for the town was excellent. The breakfasts and the evening meal were also excellent
We stayed at the Old Wisteria Hotel eight years ago with members of our family for a birthday celebration. We found the hotel welcoming, comfortable and relaxing. The staff were friendly and the whole atmosphere serene. We chose it again this time because of it's location and proximity to Oakham and were pleased to find that nothing had changed since we were here the first time.
We found the hotel as it was before eight years ago so there was nothing to dislike.
Very friendly and accommodating owners and staff. Newly decorated room, which was great. Nice flat-screen TV, satellite channels, spacious en-suite. The hotel is in a quiet spot, and is itself nice and quiet. This was much appreciated as I was due to check-out at 5am in the morning to compete in a local triathlon, so a good night's sleep was high on my agenda. Owners very graciously opened the kitchens at the crack of dawn for the handful of other competitors to get some breakfast and offered to store our (rather expensive) bikes in a secure room overnight. In summary, this was a fantastic place to stay, in a lovely village on the shores of Rutland Water with a very helpful, friendly and accommodating staff. Highly recommended.
The restaurant closes fairly early (I couldn't get food at 9pm), which was fine in my case as I simply walked 2 minutes into the village to eat. Again, staff were very helpful and suggested several places that open late. All in all a great place to stay.
being very relaxed atmospher
Hotel staff was very professional & friendly, hotel located in Rutland the tiniest county in UK, country side pretty & enjoyable, this is the kind of hotel & place holiday makers when inUK are looking for.
As we only stayed one night it is hard to really comment.
hotel was quiet, with a comfortable feel and the atmosphere was very plesent
Nice breakfast and very good location for rutland water.
Friendly and welcoming staff, room is of a good standard and has a wired broadband connection
The facilities were very clean and modern, particualrly the bathroom (bath and shower), and the television (lots of channels, high definition telly).
Breakfast was a bit small - but then we are big eaters!
We only stayed one night. The position near to Rutland Water was good. Room was large and comfortable, breakfast good.
We were at the front which had some traffic noise. Showerhead jumped off the wall, and sprayed the bathroom. I mentioned this to staff, who said that a new pressure system had just been introduced, and they would put up a notice.
The ambiance, location and the friendliness of those running the hotel We also liked the quality of the food served, and the rooms were generous in size.
The service was particularly good, unobtrusive but friendly and very polite staff. It was excellent value for money. It was a quiet and restful atmosphere but close to the centre of the town so very convenient for both shopping and site-seeing. The rooms were of a very good size.
Helpful staff. convenient location and good value. Good sized twin room even though booked as a single
Room decor is getting a little shabby and fittings are worn though that is to a degree reflected in the price
We enjoyed our stay at the Old Wisteria Hotel the staff were friendly and obliging. The room was spacious and perfect for a short stay, and in easy walking distance from Oakham town centre. The quality of the evening meal was good but we did feel it was over-priced.
Initially we couldn't find the car park as the entrance was on another road but after a call to the hotel this was easily resolved.
